Nancy Halpern is a leader in the fields of executive communications, leadership development, and talent management. She has overseen organizational effectiveness for a Fortune 500 company and consulted with numerous corporations in the pharmaceutical, advertising, publishing, and financial services industries.
After earning her MBA from the Yale School of Organization and Management, Nancy joined Federated Department Stores. Her success in both store operations and merchandising resulted in a 10-year career in the retail and import industries, ultimately as Divisional Vice President of Operations for a subsidiary of Target. In that role, she worked extensively in Asia, Latin America and Africa to negotiate with manufacturers and inspect factories for U.N. Health and Safety violations. She also led customer service for over twenty domestic and international member stores, and ran a multi-million dollar warehousing service.
Nancy’s international experience provided the foundation for her subsequent leadership development work. As a consultant with Drake, Beam Morin and then The Strickland Group, she helped senior executives communicate more effectively across cultural, generational, functional and regional boundaries. She has conducted numerous workshops, team building off-sites and individual coaching sessions on communicating with impact and increasing leadership presence.
Nancy’s clients have included Credit Suisse First Boston, MetLife, Bank of America, The World Bank, Moody’s, Ambac, Deutsche Bank, Pfizer, Novartis and Grey Healthcare, among others. She has worked with leaders at all levels, from recently hired MBAs to experienced CEOs, leveraging a pragmatic yet strategic consulting process which links developmental needs to business objectives, and working in partnership with clients to determine desired outcomes and benchmark measures of success.
Nancy has been interviewed on ABC News and National Public Radio, as well as by the New York Times, Chicago Tribune and Working Mother Magazine. She has been a guest speaker for the National Retail Federation and numerous professional groups. In addition to her MBA from Yale, Nancy holds a Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University. She completed additional undergraduate work at Trinity College, Oxford University, in England.
